This album chronicles my journey from locs to loose naps. I started picking my locs out on February 26 and finished on April 30.

Before...

Before...

My full, healthy set of locs

White Rain...

White Rain...

this is the cheapie conditioner I used to pick out my locs. I stopped using it after I picked my hair out, moved on to Trader Joe's.

The hair I lost...

The hair I lost...

The shed hair from one lock.

In the beginning...

In the beginning...

March 20, 2007. I started in the back (just in case I changed my mind).

The same loc

loose!

Showing length

Showing length

Surprisingly, my hair was the exact same length after I picked the locs out.

My cute little curls...

My cute little curls...

I took this picture after I used my homemade curly pudding.

Making progress

Hair Baggie

Hair Baggie

This is just some of the hair I collected. I think this was a week's worth of shed hair.

Ponytail

Ponytail

April 4, I'm making my way towards the front. I took out at least one loc a day, then four-five on the weekends.

Getting kinda scraggly

Getting kinda scraggly

The back view of my hair used to be so thick.

Eventually,

Eventually,

I started taking down random locs along the hairline.

Loc Inspection

Loc Inspection

I cut the tips off the thicker locs to make it easier to start picking them out. Notice the junk that was imbedded in the loc.

This...

This...

is a mess. Locs and loose naps slathered in conditioner. It was very difficult to disguise the mess that was going on in my head, so I was exclusively wearing headwraps by this point.

This headwrap

This headwrap

became my everyday style towards the end of the process.

The Last One!

The Last One!

I'll admit, it was a little bittersweet to pick out that final loc.

Nowadays...

Nowadays...

and this is my hair loose. Straight from the shower, no product. Just nappy.
